Computing
At The Peak Federation, we believe that computing should be engaging, safe, and relevant to everyday life. For primary-aged children, our approach focuses on building confidence with technology while developing core skills such as logical thinking, clear communication, and creativity. Lessons are designed to help children understand how computers work, how to use technology effectively, and how to make positive choices online.
Our curriculum supports progression from early foundations to more advanced concepts as children move through school. Children learn through practical activities that may include coding, using educational software, creating digital content, and exploring how information is stored and shared. We also teach children about digital safety and responsible behaviour, including staying safe online, understanding personal information, and recognising trusted sources. These messages are reinforced regularly so that online safety becomes part of everyday learning.
We work closely with families to encourage consistent, supportive habits at home. Parents can help by discussing what children do online, setting sensible screen-time routines, and encouraging children to ask questions when they are unsure.
