Religious Education
Religious Education (RE) at The Peak Federation helps children in primary school develop knowledge, understanding and respect for different religions, beliefs and values. Through carefully planned learning, pupils explore key ideas such as faith, community, symbols and practices, while also learning how people make sense of the world in different ways. The Peak Federation follow Derbyshire's agreed Syllabus for RE 2025-2030 which provided guidance and objectives for teaching RE. We supplement this syllabus with the Understanding Christianity teaching resource.
Our RE curriculum is designed to be age-appropriate and engaging, supporting children to ask thoughtful questions and build their confidence in discussing ideas respectfully. Pupils learn to recognise similarities and differences between religions and beliefs, and to understand how these influence daily life, celebrations and moral decisions. We encourage curiosity and reflection, helping children connect learning to their own experiences and the wider world.
Parents play an important role in supporting RE. We aim to create a positive, inclusive environment where every child feels valued and safe to learn. If you would like to know more about what your child will study, or how RE is taught in your school, please speak to your child’s teacher or the school office. Together, we can help children develop the knowledge and values needed for life in modern Britain.
